Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band will no longer be performing at the San Jose Civic on Friday, the former Beatles drummer announced in a tweet, because he has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.
Starr’s 2022 tour has faced multiple setbacks due to COVID — he initially tested positive earlier this month and needed to cancel six concerts in Canada. A week later, he announced in an Instagram post that he had tested negative and was “on the road again.”
But on Thursday, Starr tweeted that the illness had managed to get to him again, thereby canceling the rest of his 2022 tour. That includes upcoming shows at the San Jose Civic in San Jose, the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. “I’m sure you’ll be as surprised as I was I tested positive again for Covid,” Starr said in his tweet, which included a selfie and a string of colorful emojis.
Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band began touring this year in May. The tour was originally scheduled for 2020, but needed to be postponed due to the pandemic — an impediment that won’t let the group catch a break, even two years later.

A month after the tour began, it was announced on Starr’s website that All-Starr Band members Edgar Winter and Steve Lukather tested positive for COVID, bringing the tour to a halt. Its remaining dates were rescheduled for September and October.
Though the West Coast leg of his tour has been cut short, Starr was still able to perform in Seattle and Portland between COVID infections. It’s looking like his Californian fans, however, will just have to let it be.
