Rajasthan reports 30 Covid cases, 2 deaths; active caseload 117

Two persons died while 30 others tested positive for Covid-19 in Rajasthan on Sunday, taking the state’s active caseload to 117, raising concerns over the return of the deadly virus in the desert state. Of the two deaths, one was reported from Bhilwara and the other from Jaipur.

The fresh spike in Covid cases is not an indication of a new wave, and there is no need to panic, health experts said on Monday. India on Monday recorded a single-day rise of 918 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours pushing the active cases to 6,350, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

Kirron Kher tests positive for Covid-19

Actor and politician Kirron Kher on Monday tested positive for Covid-19. Taking to Twitter, Kirron shared the news and wrote, “I have tested positive for Covid. So anyone who has come in contact with me please get yourself tested.”

Gujarat sees fastest spike in weekly Covid cases

Four states in India – Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka – account for 70% of the 5,915 active Covid cases in India as of Sunday morning, according to ministry of health & family welfare data. Of the four states – all having more than 500 active cases – Gujarat has recorded steepest rise in active cases, indicated the data. Dr Randeep Guleria, former AIIMS-Delhi director and currently chairman of Gurugram-based Medanta Hospital, on Sunday said recent surge in cases should be seen as cyclical.
